5. World War Z (2013)
Storyline: –
Global zombie chaos leads UN investigator Gerry Lane to seek a cure. He discovers that zombies do not attack the sick, and a “camouflage” vaccine hypothesis ensues. He sees the outbreak in South Korea and Jerusalem and the zombies’ behavior.
In a laboratory in Cardiff, Gerry puts his life on the line, inoculating himself with a pathogen. He proves the hypothesis: zombies don’t even notice him. This is the vaccine, enabling humans to coexist with the horde.
The vaccine enables safe evacuations and military counterattacks. Gerry is reunited with his family, giving humanity a fragile hope of survival against the sheer number of zombies.
4. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Storyline: –
Shaun is a slacker who is dumped by his girlfriend Liz. The next day, London is invaded by zombies. He and his mate Ed save Liz and Shaun’s mom, trapped in their local pub called the Winchester. They lose friends and family members along the way to the zombies. In the pub, they fend off many zombies, using whatever they can find.
Then, the army comes and saves Shaun and Liz. Six months later, everything is nearly normal. Zombies are used for work. Shaun keeps Ed, who has been zombified, in his shed, and they game together.
3. Train to Busan (2016)
Storyline: –
Seok-woo and his daughter Su-an board a train bound for Busan. A pandemic of zombies occurs, and other passengers are infected. They are joined by other survivors, like Sang-hwa and his expecting wife Seong-kyeong, who battle through the train.
They suffer betrayal and make sacrifices, losing many friends. Seok-woo is bitten and sacrifices himself after leading Su-an and Seong-kyeong to their safety. They proceed on foot.
At the entrance of a tunnel outside Busan, snipers wait to shoot them, believing that they are zombies. Su-an sings “Aloha ʻOe,” proving that they are human, and they are saved.
2. I Am Legend (2007)
Storyline: –
In 2012, a virus changed most of the population into vampire-like, nocturnal creatures called Darkseekers. Robert Neville, an American Army virologist, is the only survivor who lives isolated in Manhattan, hoping for a cure. He has as a friend his dog Sam.
Neville captures a female Darkseeker for testing. Sam is bitten, so Neville has to kill her. Desperate, he fights Darkseekers, but Anna and Ethan, who are immune to the disease, save him. They take him home and inform him that there is a survivor camp in Vermont.
Neville administers a new treatment to the woman Darkseeker. Darkseekers break into his house. He, Anna, and Ethan barricade themselves in his laboratory in the basement.
1. 28 Days Later (2002)
Storyline: –
Animal rights extremists unleash a rage-stricken chimp, and a zombie-like epidemic sweeps across Britain. Jim wakes up from a coma to an empty London. He joins survivors Selena and Frank and goes to a sanctuary provided by the military.
The sanctuary is a trap; the soldiers want women as slaves. Jim strikes back and releases an infected soldier to help him kill the others. He, Selena, and Frank’s daughter Hannah flee.
Twenty-eight days later, the infected are starving. They flag down a passing jet, hoping to be rescued, indicating the world outside is still operational.
